RSMT functions on a specially designed Mentor-Mentee system. Students encounter obstacles, career opportunities and life choices during their college career. Some undergraduates forge their way on their own, while some seek guidance from others on campus and elsewhere. Faculty guidance or subversive thinking can be disastrous for a young person whose life foundations are still being firmed. RSMT mentor-mentee system ensures a constant monitoring and solving of problems by regular one-on-one interaction between faculty and students

This unique feature of RSMT is based on the concept of 'Guru-Shishya', because at RSMT it is believed that education is not merely an exchange of information but also of subtle energies communicated through person-to-person interaction. This makes for holistic development which empowers students to face predictable and unpredictable career/life situations with enhanced capability.

Students faculty interface outside the classroom is an essential prerequisite to overall academic and attitudinal development of students. Each student is a member of a group of 20 to 25 who are assigned a mentor from the faculty. This mentor addresses academic and career concerns as they arise. This mentor becomes a friend, philosopher and guide, helping students in their academic, emotional and career development. Faculty members are allotted study-rooms where discussions beyond the purely pedagogic may be help.

Additionally, a Parent Mentor is available for each student to turn to for personal and emotional guidance. The Parent Mentor gains the trust of the student to become more than just a guide, but an advocate, role model, information provider and door opener who helps bride social and cultural devides. Care is taken to provide just enough support as is needed to help the students develop self-confidence and self-reliance.

As an institute of learning RSMT realizes the import of adaptability. When social paradigms and technology are changing ever more rapidly, goals need to shift too. Conventional methods of competitive analysis on longer suffice when increasing percentile points are taken by intangibles. Enormous opportunities appear and disappear with equal rapidity, so developing expertise in recognizing key issues within complex situations is integral to the methodology at RSMT.
