The Two days National Seminar was organized by Rajarshi School of Management And Technology , U.P. College, and Varanasi in collaboration with Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith. The theme of the seminar was on a very pertinent issue Recent Advances in Management & Technology

About the Seminar
These days, organizations are competing in a complex and challenging context that is being transformed by many factors as globalization, hyper-competition, technological development, and virtualization. These new environments require organizations to think and behave differently in order to survive and prosper. Changes in the marketing methodology are so vast that from marketing driven technology, we have moved to technology-driven marketing. To remain competitive, companies are creating more personalized, contextualized and dynamic experiences that hope to exceed customer evolving expectations. Today CMO and CIO are working together to enable data-driven science along with intuition-based art. That is why most of them are seeking new methods to achieve competitive advantage. The world has become more integrated through the expansion of trade, investment, and communications. The ICT revolution has led to an explosion in the internationalization of all types of services that can be done digitally. Thus there is more international competitive pressure. Different customer demand is driving innovative approaches, within a digital strategy, and there is a need to integrate and govern data, build technology and manage risk.
Academic research results are still inadequate and lagging in empirical and theoretical justifications of the significance of the diasporas.

With this background, this National Seminar on Recent Advancement in Management and Technology aimed to provide a platform for a distinguished group of speakers and participants who discussed, debated and shared their insights in furthering understanding on the recent trends in Management and Technology.

Objectives of the Seminar

  • To provide a special forum to present and discuss research on Innovative trends in management technology
  • To    facilitate     sharing    of    research-based    management    and    technology knowledge among academicians and practitioners.
  • To discuss innovative models and options for facilitating the exchange of perspectives between management and technology.
  • And to understand recent trends in process improvements, technological advancements, innovations in the industry with a global perspective

 

This has been achieved through multi-disciplinary research-based idea generation and discussions. The attempt was to bring about richness in the discussion by encouraging contributions from researchers across academic institutions and industry worldwide.

The two day event RAMTECH 2019 commenced on 4th April with lighting of lamp and garlanding of RajarshiJi by Chief Guest Prof. T.N.Singh, Vice Chancellor, MGKVP, Guest of honor Prof. Rakesh Singh, Institute of Agricultural Science, BHU, Chairman of the RSMT, Subcommittee Prof S.K.Kak, Former Chairman, Airport Authority of India Prof N.K Singh, Director RSMT Prof. D.B Singh and all the heads of the units of UP College.

The Welcome address was given by Prof. D.B. Singh, Director RSMT. He showed his optimism in the success of the seminar which provided a platform for industry experts, academician, Research scholars and students across India and abroad, along with distinguished personalities from the industry to critically examine the Recent Advances in Management & Technology.

Dr. Vinita Kalra Convener of the Seminar gave an overview of the Seminar highlighting the subthemes, objectives, and relevance of the seminar along with the number of papers contributions with special reference to 4 international papers from Mexico and Rwanda.

Keynote speaker Prof. N.K. Singh, connected technology with spirituality. Stating the story of a Buddhist he said that the concept of management is not new to India. It has existed for thousands of years. Highlighting the contributions of Steve Jobs, Prof. N.K. Singh said that marketing is best defined by its practitioners. He emphasized on the need of bringing back ancient knowledge and connecting older concepts with the modern one. He said, We need to be More Indian, Yet More International. He further said that Technology will continue to advance and every time there will be some innovations. Stressing on the relevance of technology he said that by 0.7% investment in technology we can achieve 40% advancement in the country. Cloud computing, analytics, and other new applications can become the game changer. Adoption of new technology is relevant to the management but we cannot forget spirituality. He mentioned Zen, a Japanese concept whose roots lie in the ancient Indian philosophy of ‘Dhyan. Even computers were created with the application of Dhyan.

Prof. N.K. Singh suggested that poetry and art should also be included in management. Highlighting the philosophy of Hinduism, he said that Hinduism is not a religion, it is a way of living, a way of practicing which emphasized on Being Together, be it study, be it work or be it play. He firmly believed that management can be truly practiced with the understanding of spirituality which encompasses creativity. Shiva is one of the greatest symbols of creativity and if its preaching is practiced in management we can be called true human. He emphasized that the need of the hour is to understand recent trends in process improvements, technological advancements, innovations in the industry with a global perspective and equip the student with the latest in the field of education with the rapidly changing demand worldwide.

Guest of Honor Prof. Rakesh Singh, Institute of Agricultural Science, BHU highlighted on the need for applying recent management trends in agriculture to make it more fruitful. He said that despite being the largest producers of many food categories in the world, India is the home of poor and malnourished people. He emphasized on the improvement of Supply Chain of agricultural products with the help of both management and technology.

Prof S.K. Kak, Chairman, RSMT, Subcommittee shared his views on the recent changes in Management & Technology, changing the concept of work culture and new innovative practices in Indian businesses. He highlighted that advancement in technology cannot be beneficial if it does not give due respect to human relationships. He mentioned that disruption has become common nowadays and there is a time to guide it by the ethical orientation. Managing technology is very important because it should not disrupt relationships. Giving an example of mobile phones he said that technology is adversely affecting the relationship which is not a good sign for the future.

Chief Guest Prof. T.N. Singh, Vice Chancellor, MGKVP, Varanasi extended his congratulations and his best wishes to the organizing committee and congratulated Prof S.K KaK and Prof. D.B Singh for setting milestones for the management and technical education in the region particularly in Varanasi and around the globe.

He underlined three challenges of today-

  1. Need for Management in Technology
  2. Management of Waste
  3. Creation of Technology through Creativity

While underlining the need for management in technology, Prof. T.N. Singh said that without management, technology has no existence. There is a need to manage technology, in the absence of which it can become highly disruptive. If management people provide market strategies along with appropriate technology, it will help double the income of the person on the lower strata of the society.

Emphasizing on the need for waste management, Prof. Singh said that there is zero waste management in the country and we need to focus on it with the help of technology as well as management.

Pondering on the third challenge, Prof. T.N. Singh said that development of technology can be done through creativity, where we need  to decide whether old technology is to be reframed or a new concept of innovation is to be applied. To stop the misuse of the technology, again there is a need for management. He said that Indian society is highly diversified and management is the discipline which will make it systematic.

On this occasion, the dignitaries released a souvenir and an edited book on Recent Advancement in Management and Technology, chief edited by Prof. D. B Singh & edited by Dr. Vinita Kalra and Dr. Sanjay Singh. On the editorial board of the book were Prof. Aman Gupta, Dr. Preeti Singh, Dr. Rajendra Sharma, Dr. Brijesh Yadav, Ms. Preeti Nair, and Mrs. Garima Anand. The book was reviewed by Prof. Ashish Singh, Rajiv Gandhi South Campus, BHU, Dr. Himanshu Shekhar Singh, Awadh University, Dr. Amit Gautum, IMS, BHU Dr. Rajkiran Prabhakar, IMS, BHU.

Prof SK Kak honored the Chief Guest Prof. T.N Singh with a Plaque of Honor for his outstanding contributions. He also presented mementos to all the dignitaries and the prime sponsor of the event, Nilgiri Group as a token of appreciation and remembrance. The Inaugural function concluded with the vote of thanks by Seminar coordinator, Dr. Preeti Singh, Associate. Prof. RSMT.

After a small tea break, Technical Session I on Technology-Driven Marketing was conducted. The session was chaired by Prof. Alok Rai, IMS, BHU. Other distinguished speakers for this session were Prof. Himanshu Shekhar, Awadh University and Mr. Jitendra Singh, Branch Manager PNB Bank. Prof. Alok Rai emphasized on creating demand and said that technology has brought society closer to us and has given greater options to the customers. He gave a very lucid presentation on the importance of Customer Relationship Management practices and laid a strong emphasis on service quality and customer perception. Prof. Himanshu Shekhar mentioned in his talk that technology improves creativity and digital advancements have a greater understanding of customer needs. Mr. Jitendra highlighted the importance of human elements, especially in the service sector. Five research papers were presented in this session on the topics:

Post lunch two concurrent Technical Sessions were run

Technical Session II was on Financial Technology which was conducted in the Committee Room. This session was chaired by Prof. Ajit Shukla, Dean, and Director, IMS, MGKVP who emphasized the role of technology usage in acquiring and retaining customers. He said today is not yesterday and tomorrow is not like today. Other speakers of the session were Prof. Ranajee from IBS Hyderabad who gave an overview of Fintech ecosystem and Mr. Vijay Yadav, Manager, Allahabad Bank emphasized the importance of design thinking as advances in the field of management and technology. More than 10 Research papers were presented in the session on the topics:

Technical Session III conducted in the Seminar Hall was based on 5th Generation Manufacturing/ Human Interface and services. The session was headed by Prof. S K. Kak, Chairman RSMT subcommittee who was very happy seeing the diverse and innovative content of the research papers. He differentiated between learning, skill, and knowledge. Distinguished speakers were Prof. Alok Kumar, Dean, Gopal Narayan Singh University who laid emphasis on the role of emotions in the role of technology usage.

This Technical session was followed by a Kavi Sammelan in which famous poets like Sand Banarasi, Shyamlalji Majumdar, Damdar Banarasi and Dinesh Gukkaj entertained the audience.

On Day 2, the last session on Employment and Employability was conducted in the Seminar Hall. The session was chaired by Prof. Rita Agarwal, Director,  FMT who mesmerized the audience by her crisp presentation focusing on 3 things Technology, Diversity and Ethical Aspects.

Mr. A.P Singh, Professor, IGNTU, Amarkantak gave his deliberations on the unending learning process and emphasized on the role of attitude and other soft skills like creativity giving 80 percent of importance in seeking a good job. He mentioned Hanumanji philosophy to be imbibed by the students as taking initiative and responsibility and Lord Ganesha philosophy of being a multitasker and having clear focus and observation.

Mr. Anurag Gupta, CGM, FCI presented his views on the need for effective soft skills and inculcating core Indian values in the current youth for better employability. He gave a comparison of the students residing in Developed nations how they are working for enhancing their soft skills along with their education.

12 papers were presented in this session.

The session was coordinated by Mr. P.N Singh, Assistant Professor in the Department of Management.

After the High Tea, the next session a Panel Discussion was conducted where we had a beautiful blend of intellectual gems in the field of management and technology gathered together to ponder on the topic Management Education: New Directions and Perspectives.

Prof. N. K Singh, Former Chairman Airports Authority of India started the
Panel discussion with raising his concern for the shortage of qualified teachers and need for skill development. He said that value is more important than need and self-learning is important. He added Life skills of manager are leadership, negotiation, and ability to understand human beings. He also submitted the role of technology in giving new directions to management education.

Prof. SK Kak, Chairman, RSMT Subcommittee opened up the floor for discussion with saying management education is the most mismanaged of education. However, over the years of the time when Native management practices gained importance, India started talking about Bhagwat Gita and the role of ethics in management and the paradigm got shifted to corporate profit and ethical issues. He laid emphasis on proper usage of environmental resources and lastly showed concern on how misinformation is misleading the market.

Mr. Anurag Gupta, CGM, FCI laid emphasis on the importance of developing core competency by the students and also bought into the light on more focus on case studies and industrial interface.

Prof A.P Singh, Professor, IGNTU raised his concern on the role of higher education bodies in imparting affiliations.

Prof Rajkumar Singh, Professor and Dean, Dean (R&D) & Chairperson - Centre For Entrepreneurship, Innovation and Skill Development (CEISD) SMS mentioned Darwin theory of Survival of the fittest to be understood by the present management students by seeking and understanding the local needs of industry. He also emphasized on the concept of helix model of society, academia, and industry.

Prof. Ripudaman Gaur, Associate Professor GL Bajaj, Institute of Management and Technology showed his concern for the current state of the management education and said the future lies in use of technology and super

Specialization courses and submitted his views on teacher-student learning together. He also laid the importance of the renewal of syllabus on a timely basis.

Prof Rita Agarwal, Director, FMT added to the discussion by pointing out the need of following indigenous models to be incorporated. She laid emphasis to follow some of the Gandhian principles like Trusteeship, leadership by example and experimentations. She also focused on making composite bodies for designing and renewing syllabus of management institutes.

Dr. Alok Kumar Dean, Gopal Narayan Singh University talked on the revamping of the structure of management education.

Submitted the need to embed life skills in the management students.

Dr. Anamika Gupta, Healthcare Expert showed her concern for the health of the citizens due to increasing wastage by the marketers.

Prof. Aman Gupta, Professor, Department of Management, RSMT and Seminar Co-Chair successfully conducted the session and finally briefed the various issues discussed. The session ended with Prof S K Kak submission to form an online group discussion forum.

Valedictory Session

Dr. Preeti Singh, Associate Professor, RSMT presented a brief report containing a glimpse of the seminar. Then after a short video prepared by Mr. Rishabh Singh student BCA IV Sem was played showing the pictures of the two day National Seminar. Valedictory Function was presided by Prof S K Kak, Chairman RSMT subcommittee. He while addressing the students and faculty said Human, Society, and Technology is very much important and we are the creator of technology and technology cannot create us.

Prof S.K Dubey Guest of Honor of the session in his deliberations said Change is the biggest Catalyst, a continuous process, the need of the hour which is driving  the corporate world. He added that Technology no doubt is important but one cannot deny the relevance of human touch to it. Chief Guest Prof Rajeev Tripathi, Director, MNNIT, Allahabad in his address mentioned that Management and Technology are integrated wherein skills should be utilized to make cost-effective solutions like in the field of communication and healthcare has been done, however, he raised his concern for increasing dependency on the Technology.

Prof. N.K Singh in his final remarks said that Change needs Creativity and the future lies in being creative. He added the Chalta hai work culture in India and lack of innovation and change is the reason holding India back. Change of attitude is very important. Tomorrows’ world will be of Hi-Tech and Hi-Touch.

Declaration of Awards (Best Paper) was felicitated by Chief Guest Prof. Rajeev Tripathi, Director, MNNIT, Allahabad. The Best paper award for first Technical Session was given to Ms. Bhawana Jhawar and Sonam Chaubey, FMS, BHU; for Second Technical Session it was given to Ms. Varsha Shukla, Research Scholar, VBS. For Third, Technical Session was given to Dr. Sanjay Singh, Associate Professor, RSMT and for the Fourth Technical Session, it was given to Himanshu K. Upadhaya, Research Scholar, IIIT, Allahabad.

Dr. Vinita Kalra, Associate Professor, RSMT and Convener Seminar Organizing Committee presented a vote of thanks to all the distinguished guests, delegates, participants, organizing committee members, faculties and students of RSMT.
