Honerable Chief Minister Yogi Adiyanath ji and other dignitaries graced the 115 annual day of U. P. College
"Uday Pratap College, built on the foundations of the thoughts and resolutions of Rajarshi Uday Pratap Singh Judev, will soon expand into a university. On the 115th foundation day of the college, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed his enthusiasm and confidence regarding this development.
At the event held in the MP Hall of the college, he said that it will not take much time for U.P. College to become a university. He urged everyone to get involved, stating that only 20 acres of land are required for a university, and the college already has 100 acres. After receiving university status, there will be no need to wander around for the recognition of new courses, including the five-year law program. The college will be free to start any course it wishes.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need for essential reforms in the education sector and stated that the government will support every positive initiative. Appreciating U.P. College’s historic contribution to education and overall development, the CM said that this institution is a shining star in the field of education. The students graduating from here are making the institution’s name shine both in the country and abroad. The state and the nation are grateful for this contribution. BHU and U.P. College have done a lot for the country and society.
The CM also mentioned that the identity of an educational institution is not defined by hoardings, banners, or posters, but by its students and academic quality. He conveyed that technology has advanced immensely, and in the past, it took hours to write an article, but now one can access a wealth of content in just a few minutes through ChatGPT. This is artificial intelligence (AI) software that can be tailored to personal preferences. AI, robotics, drone technology, the Internet of Things, and agricultural gene editing are some of the advances that have been made. To stay relevant, one must adapt with the times.
The CM stressed that by engaging with technology, science, and new knowledge, we will not find any limit. Institutions should design courses in technology. Instead of following others, we should set examples with our own work. He reminded that hard work has no substitute, and shortcuts cannot lead to success. Rules are meant to ensure governance, good administration, and inclusive social development, and adhering to them will earn legal protection and respect.
The Chief Minister also emphasized simplifying and digitizing the accreditation process. He suggested that colleges should be granted immediate accreditation without lengthy documentation. The application for accreditation should be a one-page form, and not a bulky volume, as no one pays attention to such large documents. A single page with the necessary details and an affidavit would suffice.
Focusing on youth power, the CM pointed out that no country can progress without recognizing the importance of its youth. Their potential cannot be restricted by barriers; they deserve respect and the right opportunities. He stated that a country whose youth is frustrated, guilt-ridden, and confused can never become developed. Change will always be driven by the youth, and institutions must prepare themselves by keeping youth power at the center.
The Chief Minister also suggested using software to connect alumni with the college’s development. Referring to Professor Uday Pratap Singh, President of the Maharana Pratap Education Council, who was associated with Gorakhpur University and later with Purvanchal University, he mentioned that alumni should be invited regularly for events so that they can help the institution reach new heights. He also recalled that Olympic medalist hockey player Lalit Upadhyay, who studied at U.P. College, was awarded the position of Deputy SP by the government.
The CM mentioned the good teachers, such as former MLC Chetan Narayan Singh, who used to stand with students in the past and support their demands. Now, though, he behaves like a trade union leader and insists on fulfilling demands by any means.
Minister Ravindra Jaiswal, in his special address, also raised the demand to make U.P. College a university. He said that U.P. College has produced many scientists, and without it, many people would have been deprived of education. He also referred to the slogan "Bantoge to Katoge" as part of history.
The event was chaired by Justice D.P. Singh, President of the Uday Pratap Education Committee, with the Annual Report presented by Justice S.K. Singh, Secretary of the Committee. The welcome address was given by College Principal Professor Dharmendra Kumar Singh, and the program was conducted by Dr. Pragya Parmita and Dr. Gyanprabha Singh. Dr. Ramesh Pratap Singh, Principal, gave the vote of thanks.
Present at the event were Minister Sri Daya Shankar Mishra ‘Dayalu’, Mayor Sri Ashok Tiwari, Vice Chancellor of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith Professor Sri Anand Kumar Tyagi, MLA Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, Dr. Awadhesh Singh, Sri Sushil Singh, Sri Sunil Patel, MLC Sri Dharmendra Rai, Senior litterateur Dr. Ramsudhar Singh, among others."
